Keeping The Faith!

It's been a while since I've written but after the devastating atrocities that occurred on Friday evening I feel like I need to vent my feelings somewhere.

There are so many words to describe how I feel: fear, anger, pity, sadness, frustration and confusion.

Fear for the future and the kind of world I have brought my children in to.

Anger at the despicable cowards that committed these acts (trust me I can think of worse words I'd like to use to describe them!)

Pity for all the family and friends who lost loved ones in these barbaric events.

Sadness for the innocent souls who were just out living their lives dancing, eating, watching a game of football.  Bless each and every one of you.

Frustration that these crazy, suicidal idiots have no concern for human life (not even their own)!

Confusion as to how these lunatics seem to come for normal backgrounds and are turning against the very societies they have been brought up in.  At what point are their brains washed to the point that they are happy to blow themselves up, all in the name of "religion?"

I'm sure many of you have been feeling the same wave of emotions as me and have cried over the stories we have seen in the news coverage.

Then this morning, a friend of mine of Facebook had added this as her cover picture:

Watching the news coverage after seeing this, I found myself having a different take on the outcome from Friday. The one thing those evil cretins have not been able to take away from us is our solidarity, the acts of human kindness between strangers, they are uniting us and making us stronger, not weaker.

They can take lives but they can not take away humanity!

Reste dans les anges de la pai / Rest in peace angels.

Orla Kiely Warehouse Clearance!!

Just wanted to share the love with you all in case you happen to be in London later this week, here is an opportunity for you to pick up an Orla Kiely bargain.

Warehouse clearances are a great opportunity to bag a designer label at a slightly less credit card melting price, my one tip would be to get there earlier in the day as they tend to resemble something similar to a jumble sale by the end.

Good luck and make sure you give us a peek at your purchases!

Sneak Peak | New Wagamama Dish

Today Wagamama launch their new menu. Seeing as I spend far too much time in my local restaurant than any normal person, when I popped in for a quick lunch yesterday I was treated to a sneak taste of one of their new starters.

May I present the new stuffed tempura mushrooms.  When the waitress brought this over I felt a little worried as I HATE mushrooms, seriously I can't stand the smell of them cooking and they remind me of slugs when they're all slimy but out of guilt I felt I had to be polite and give them a go.

I needn't have worried these were sublime.  Wrapped in a light tempura was a wonderful combination of firm, fresh mushrooms with prawn and garlic served with a spicy sauce.  It really was divine and I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed these.

There are so many things on the new menu I can't wait to try but next time you visit I thoroughly recommend this dish.

What I Wore | Wedding Outfit

Morning all,

At the weekend I had the privilege of attending the wedding of some very dear friends of mine.  It really was a special day, that moment when the bride takes her first steps down the aisle chokes me up every time.

I blogged a couple of weeks ago about a gorgeous peplum dress I purchased from Bonprix as a possible candidate for my outfit for the special day but when it arrived, I decided it was a little too casual for a wedding outfit, so the search was on again.

Step in, my saviour, House of Fraser.  If you order before midday, your items will be delivered that very same evening for £6, which is what it would have cost for next day delivery anyway.

The final contender was this beauty by Episode. It cost £69 but had a great mock, wrap effect and was very flattering to the figure. I loved the blue crazy print and v-neck to show off the knockers.  Teamed up with a matching coral bag and heels from Matalan which I bought about a year ago.

What do you think?

What outfits do you have lined up for wedding season?

Use Your Vote!

So, some of us might be complacent about using our right to vote. I wanted to highlight the many reasons it is SO SO SO important for you to exercise this right:

1) We have a right to choose who we want to vote for in free and fair elections, remember that in other countries people are now allowed this right, they have a government forced upon them.

2) The more young people vote the more likely politicians are to make policies that benefit you. I really wish I had considered this in my 20s but you just think that none of this influences you. It does guys, it really really does.

3) Emmeline Pankhurst and the suffragettes spent years fighting for the right for women to vote. Many women even lost their lives, don't let them have made that sacrifice in vain! Make them proud.

4) Your local MP can help fight important issues for you. They represent you and will defend you.

5) Living in a "safe" seat doesn't mean that your vote won't make a difference. If one person decides they can't be bothered to pop down the road to make their vote, it could make a HUGE difference.

YOUR opinion counts.
YOU have the right to put your opinion forward!

USE IT!

Feeling Fruity?!

I'm not sure if any of these would count towards your 5 a day but they're all very pretty nonetheless!!

This cute little banana purse will only set you back £4.99 from New Look. Perfect for stashing your change in.

To quote Baby from Dirty Dancing, "I carried a watermelon", will literally be the case with this clutch bag, also from New Look and only £12.99.

I love this simple apple necklace from notonthehighstreet.com, it's only £8.95 and would really make a simple outfit look querky.

I'd have no chance of being able to wear this lemon crepe dress from Miss Guided, with boobs my size going bra less just isn't an option but I wanted to include it as it just makes me feel all summery.  It's only £20.00 and would look fantastic on someone who's just got back from their holidays with a gorgeous tan.

Finally, I have a thing about plimsolls at the moment.  This pineapple pair just ooze cheerfulness. £43.00 from ASOS, would look great paired up with some blue jeans and a simple white tee.

Do you have any fruit print items in your wardrobe?

Cheerio!

Dress Lust | Bonprix Nautical Peplum Dress

This cute little number has my name written all over it and is on its way to me as I type.

I'm off to a wedding in a couple of weeks and was starting to panic that I wouldn't find anything I liked.  I knew in my mind what I was looking for but after scouring all my usual clothing haunts, there was a distinct possibility of me wearing something I already own (shock, horror)!

I love the design of this dress and the gorgeous shade of blue. The peplum design is always forgiving in the tummy area and the belted section will help to accentuate my waist.

This beauty is a snitch at £19.99 from Bonprix and if you open an account with them, you will also receive 25% off and free standard postage.  I'll be teaming this up with matching coral heels and clutch bag, so this may end up being one of the cheapest wedding outfits ever!

I promise to share a snap on the day!

Cheerio.

Hen Weekend in Pictures

Morning lovelies,

So I joined the most amazing hen weekend in Fordingbridge near Salisbury.

10 of us had rented this amazing barn conversion for the weekend called Hyde Barn.  It really was an amazing place to stay, right in the middle of the countryside with fields of horses and sheep right on our doorstep. It wasn't cheap, £1600 for 3 nights (book here) but the property can sleep up to 15 people so once divided between the group it wasn't too bad and certainly cheaper and a much more impressive place to stay than a hotel.  They provided bedding, towels, toilet roll and was well equipped with a sound system and TVs in most of the bedrooms.

We all arrived on the Friday and decided to make the most out of the cottage by having a pyjama party in the evening, hence the rather trendy Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtle PJs I'm rocking in the picture.  We'd done a huge food shop so had a great meal of pizzas, garlic bread and lasagne, all washed down with wine, skittles vodka and a various assortment of other alcoholic beverages.  We then played the usual Hen Party games which never fail to entertain and raise a few giggles.

Saturday, after a hearty breakfast we have a wonderful visit from the lovely Cara from Craft and Giggles. Craft and Giggles offer a wonderful service whereby they come to you and offer a workshop of your choice, we went for glass painting which left us all with a wonderful momento of the weekend.  We all sat around the huge dining room table, poured out the prosecco and painted for three hours.  The time went so quickly and we all enjoyed getting creative.  I made the small tumbler a gift for my son complete with obligatory dinosaur.

Then it was time to don the glad rags ready for a night on the tiles.  First we went to the Slug and Lettuce in Salisbury town centre for a cocktail making course and a two course meal.  Again we all had such a giggle, accidentally over pouring with the vodka into our cocktail shakers.  We were all nicely warming up and then sat down to a two course meal, which was basic but still good and just what you need before a night of dancing!

Sunday morning, somehow we had all dodged the hangover bullet, enjoyed a leisurely strolled around the area.  Taking in the breathtaking views and dusting off the cobwebs from the night before.  Then it was time to pack our bags but before we hit the motorway home we went for an amazing roast at the local pub The George in Fordingbridge.  Honestly, it really was up there as being one of the best roasts I've ever had.  I managed to resist having a dessert but there is plenty to tempt you from the creme egg brownie to the jaffa cake cheesecake with homemade chocolate orange ice-cream, sounds delicious right!?

I did have a wonderful weekend, with a great bunch of ladies and have made some fabulous new friends.  It was great to get home to the babies though, never could stay away from my little munchkins for long but I did enjoy the 2 night's sleep with no disturbance!

What did you all do for your Hen?

Hope you all had a lovely weekend too.

I'm Going on A Hen Weekend ....Eek!

So, tomorrow I'm off on a Hen Weekend for a very close friend of mine.

We've rented out a really swanky looking cottage near the coast for the weekend.  There willl be a pyjama party, pizza, bubbles, giggles, cocktail making, clubbing, roasts and walks in the countryside. Sounds great huh, so why am I feeling apprehensive? The one thing that won't be there, my children.

Now don't get me wrong I go to work every day, have evenings out with the girls, one thing I don't do is spend nights away from them.  The thought of not seeing them for more than 24 hours just really freaks me out.  I know they'll be fine, their Father loves them just as much as I do and will look after them with the same level of care I give them but I can't bear to think of them asking for me and me not be there.

I'm sure once I get there I'll relax and enjoy myself, I should really be thinking about the lie ins I can have two mornings in a row! I can't remember the last time that happened.  Or the fact that if I have a fuzzy head one morning, I don't have to deal with little people jumping all over me and screaming in my ear at an ungodly hour of the morning.

Right I'm off on a paracetamol purchasing mission, I suspect I may need it.

Be sure that you'll be getting a full update on Monday (if I survive!) Cluck, cluck!

Skirt Lust | Autograph Blue Leather A-Line Skirt

Someone stop me, I'm trying my best to resist buying this but I can already feel myself giving in!

Marks and Spencer have really upped their game with their Autograph collection this season.  They have a few on trend leather skirts available but this one really caught my eye due to the cute baby blue colour and sexy split at the front.

As worn by the lovely Lydia Rose Bright, this could look really amazing for a night out on the town or played down for a more casual daytime feel.

At £199 it's not cheap but being leather it will be long wearing.  I'm in a quandary, come on ladies what shall I do? Splurge or save?

No More e.l.f. cosmetics in the UK?!

Honestly, I'm in shock, gutted and feel a sense of loss looming on the horizon.

Grab a glass of wine and a box of kleenex ladies, Distribeauty who distribute e.l.f. products to us here in the UK have decided to stop retailing on their behalf!  This means that once their warehouse is empty, there is no one else currently lined up to bring e.l.f.'s affordable range to us here in the United Kingdom.

I'm so shocked, I know I and many many of you have several of their items in your cosmetics collection.  The only reason I found out this news is because I logged onto their website to order some of my favorite matte lip colour sticks from them.

I always found the prices of their products absolutely amazing and on top of that they would still often have 40-50% off voucher codes knocking around on the internet.  How many of their products have been dupes for their more expensive counterparts?

Am I mentioned, they are in the process of selling off what is left in their warehouse so there are some great deals still to be had with up to 70% off some items.

@ e.l.f cosmetics, if I could buy a warehouse and distribute for you I would but please please don't desert us, we'll miss your simple black packaging, amazing product ranges and dupes.

Cheerio!

Sale Spotlight | Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters are one of my favorite stockists of some seriously unique dresses, eclectic jewellery and kitsch homeware.

These little fellows would look fantastic on the dining room table.  At a thrifty £15 down from £22, just looking at them makes me think of the book Fantastic Mr Fox.

Everyone needs their phone to look like a piece of watermelon.  What I love about this case is that it gives good protective coverage to the phone and would be so easy to find in my handbag.  I hate it when you can hear your phone ringing and have to rummage around until you find it just before the caller rings off, ANNOYING!  This beauty is reduced from £10 to £8.

I love the simplicity of this silver pendant with the initial in the old-school typewriter font.  You could add it onto your own silver chain to make it look a bit more glamorous, at a 50% reduction from £10 to £5 it's definitely a staple to your everyday collection.

Having to carry my laptop around with me on a daily basis is a real chore, especially when I have to spend ages standing on a busy tube this causes a real backache.  We didn't have it wrong when we used to carry backpacks to school with all our books in as this is the best way to carry heavy loads.  This tan offering from Deena & Ozzy offers a more grown up solution and is a really good size, now on sale at £25 I will definitely be buying this for work.

What would you go for in the sale?  Do you love Urban Outfitters refreshing and quirky products?

Throwback Thursday

I love looking at pictures of me when I was younger, more so now I have kids of my own, I can't wait to see if my daughter looks like this when she's the same age.

I'm TOTALLY rocking those denim shorts. In the words of Calvin Harris, it was "acceptable in the 80s!"

Brand Awareness | Doll 10 Cosmetics

I thought it would be fun to introduce you all to some lesser known cosmetics brands.  We all see the same names in the drugstores and on the shelves, sometimes you can discover some amazing products if you move away from the mainstream and give some less renowned brands a try.

So allow me to introduce you to Doll 10 Cosmetics.

Doll 10 was founded by Doris Dalton, get it play on her surname to the name of the brand?  Doris is a doctor who spent two decades developed products for some of the world's most coveted brands.  It was after Doris successfully beat cancer that she decided to create her own brand with products specifically designed to help address her physically altered appearance which was a side effect of her cancer battle.

One of those products has become an absolute must have which is Brow Fix.  It's a lovely cream product infused with natural fibers which mimics brow hairs and deposits onto the skin and not just the hair giving full scuplted brows.

The best place to buy Doll 10 products is QVC.  I don't get to watch TV often but I have managed to catch a couple of the shows showcasing Doris and her products.  The best part about Doris and her presenting, is that she's not afraid to take her make-up off in front of the camera, show us blemishes and redness on her skin and then wow us with the fantastic coverage her products give.

One of the benefits of purchasing via QVC is that due to their fantastic buying power, they are able to offer us fantastic deals and discounts.  The products shown were all part of their Doll 10 Today's Special Value which only cost me £31.98 for about £100 worth of products.

I hope you've found this an interesting read?  Are there any wonder products from lesser known brands you would recommend to me?

St Patrick's Day Inspiration

Why not carry the luck of the Irish with you in the form of this lovely four leaf clover pendant, available from Etsy for just £12.49.

This gorgeous flared dress from Reiss is now on sale at £95.  It is such an elegant fit, I love the slightly capped sleeves and the band detail at the waist which helps to accentuate that hourglass figure.

Work wear can be a bit bland sometimes, people always seem to wear blacks or navy, dull dull dull.  Cheer up the office in this cute emerald blazer, £40 from John Lewis.  It could also be worn down with a nice pair of jeans for a more casual look.

So perhaps Guinness flavored lip gloss isn't everyone's cut of tea but I'm sure it could tempt a hot Irish man into giving you a nice smacker on the lips.  Just £2.43 on Etsy, a bit of fun for St Patrick's day.

This bag reminds me so much of the Michael Kors tote at a fraction of the price.  Just £35 from House of Fraser, a very affordable dupe for the designer equivalent.

Finally, these shoes are absolute gems, they remind me of the ruby slipper from The Wizard of Oz but being green, I wonder if when I clip them together they'd take me to The Emerald Isle.  On sale for only £17.95, there aren't many sizes left so get your credit cards out quickly.

Enjoy lovelies,

Life Doesn't Come With A Manual.....It Comes With A Mother

Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Regardless of whether or not you have children of your own, one thing we all have in common is that we were born with a Mother.  Whether they are still with you now or have passed on, you carry a part of them with you every day, not just in your heart but in every fibre of your being.

"We must know that we have been created for greater things, not just to be a number in the world, not just to go for diplomas and degrees, this work and that work.  We have been created in order to love and be loved." - Mother Teresa

Review | Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne

Morning all, hope you're having a great weekend so far?

At £40 for 30ml, I wouldn't normally go for Jo Malone's Lime Basil & Mandarin cologne but my sister kindly bought it for me for my birthday.  It's always nice to be treated to something you wouldn't normally buy for yourself.

This is Jo Malone's signature fragrance designed to be worn by both men and women.  The base note is amberwood, the heart note is basil and the top note mandarin.

I think this scent will separate users, a bit like Marmite you'll either love it or hate it.  If you like your sweet, floral scents this one definitely isn't for you.

It's a bold, strong scent which will last on the skin, I could still smell it after 8 hours.  As soon as you put it on, you get hit with a zesty freshness balanced with a warm hint of basil.  When the scent develops it becomes gentler but still very citrusy.  It's definitely more of a masculine scent but as a woman I'm more than happy to wear something a little different from the norm and I found it to be invigorating and refreshing.

The price tag is high but you are paying for the quality of the scent and the longevity speaks for itself.

Fashion Lust | Lobster T-Shirt

I shouldn't really be attracted to prints like this at my age but come on, what is there not to love about a lobster!?
I'm tempted to wear this to a seafood restaurant and see what reaction I get.

You can buy this little gem for £24 from notonthehighstreet.com.  I wonder what Sebastian from The Little Mermaid would think of it!

Do you like quirky t-shirt designs?

Design Lust | Fifty Shades of Grey Poster

I can't help but love the irony of this poster.  A fantastic spin on the title of the steamy novel by EL James.  Unfortunately no naked Jamie Dornan in sight but genius none the less.

You can buy it from Firebox in either Medium £19.99 or Large £24.99.  If you have a Mother who's a big fan of the books and the film, this would make a great present for Mother's Day!

Kitchen Makeover

Morning lovelies,

When we moved into our house it was like a 1930s museum: bright red woodwork, crazy floral wallpaper and old bakelite light switches.  For the first three months from when we bought the house we had to live at my parents whilst we had the electric and plumbing ripped out and completely redone.

Given that our money was used up taking care of the things that needed to be done, there wasn't enough left to have our kitchen done at the time.  Although it was mustard yellow, it worked and having two small children only 20 months apart in age, the thought of not having a kitchen for weeks just wasn't a possibility.  So for three years we carried on with our Miss Marple themed kitchen.

Three years later, we had finally saved up enough to bite the bullet and get the last reminder of a bygone era removed.  You know, I've never designed a kitchen before, you have to make so many decisions, something I'm not a big fan of.

Anyway, after 9 weeks without a kitchen we're really happy with our bright, modern result.  I think you'll agree it makes the room look so much bigger and fresh.  Just putting the pictures next to each other makes me wonder how we lived with  our mustard museum for so long!

Have a great weekend!

Lulu Guinness Tangle Teezer

I absolutely love Tangle Teezers, I already own three but once I knew Lulu Guinness was allowing her trademark black, white and red lips design to be used on a Tangle Teezer compact, I knew I had to have one.

Isn't she beautiful! I love love LOVE it! Even the teeth of the brush are the same shade of vibrant red as the lips.  As ever with the compact it comes with a trusty shield so you can carry it safely in your handbag.
I bought mine on Ebay for £14 but just found it cheaper on Look Fantastic for £13:50 with free delivery.

Have a great day lovelies!
